GrandVision Global Solution

Brief

To work with the French, German, Belgium and Netherland brands to re-platform their websites to Hybris. GrandVision group instructed our team to reuse as much as possible from the website developed for the Chinese brand, while integrating new country specific requirements.

Strategy

As this was a global solution rolling out across up to forty brands globally, I proposed we create a digital style guide and boilerplate with master templates, which meant small changes could be made to the CSS to reflect the brand's colours. I proposed that all wireframes were created in Sketch as the visual designs were being created in Sketch and this would speed up the transition using the same software. I proposed using Zeplin so that we negated the need to create design annotations for the developers. I also proposed the use of InVision to prototype and gather feedback both internally and from the client.

Process

Working closely with the Business Analyst, I created wireframes to assist the client in making decisions that helped write the business requirements document. Once it was finalised and signed off I used it as reference along with the functional model to create the first round of wireframes. I flew over to the respective countries or the client would come to London for two or three days. We would run through the wireframes, take notes, write on the printouts etc. Working with the other UX designers, we tried to get a number of iterations created while face to face with the client. When travel was not feasible the wireframes were presented remotely via conference calls and sharing on screen. We also acquired feedback through InVision. Jira was used for versioning and getting feedback. Once the majority of the wireframes were signed off, I flew out to India to work closely with the twenty strong offshore development team, to ensure their full understanding of the project requirements.
